  • My New Home, Tenancy Preparation course for young people leaving care

This is a 10 week programme to help prepare homeless or through care young people to manage their own tenancy and the other challenges that come with this. It is delivered in the community with trained facilitators and covers topics such as social networks, making a house a home, fears and barriers etc. It also includes a visit to an empty tenancy to showcase some of the realities of young people having their own tenancy and dissipate some of their fears.

This programme can be delivered internally or can be commissioned by local authorities who would like support to ensure they provide a robust tenancy preparation programme for care leavers.

This can be linked with achieving a Community Achievement Award through Glasgow Kelvin College which on successful completion will allow the individual to achieve an interview at the college. We are also currently exploring options of accrediting the course through a local college to accredit the course against the SCQF Framework.
