Chalmers Court
Purpose
Chalmers Court is a residential housing support project situated in Ayr town centre. The property is owned by the Association and has operated as supported accommodation since 1992. The project is a partnership between South Ayrshire Council and Blue Triangle and its main purpose it to prepare service users for sustainable levels of independent living.
Service User Group
The service is registered with the Care Inspectorate for a maximum of 12 persons with the focus of work being vulnerable people aged 18 and over.
Accommodation and Facilities
The project has 11 bedrooms and shared kitchen, lounge and bathrooms, together with a laundry and staff offices. There is also a satellite flat which is approximately 10 minutes walk from the main project.
Support Provision
On moving into the accommodation each service user is allocated a Key Worker whose role is to assess, coordinate and review the housing support service provided. This involves regular weekly key work meetings, 6 weekly reviews and providing a link with other professionals.
In addition to the key work service the project also has regular service user meetings to discuss pertinent issues relating to the accommodation and support.
Moving On
Service users usually move on from the project to either Local Authority or Housing Association tenancies.
Staffing
The project is staffed with a team consisting of Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager, Project Workers and Cleaner.
Referral Route
All referrals to this service are made from South Ayrshire Council homeless services.
