Musselburgh
Purpose
Musselburgh is a residential housing support project situated in town house accommodation owned by a local Housing Association. The project is a partnership between East Lothian Council and Blue Triangle and its main purpose it to prepare service users for sustainable levels of independent living.
Service User Group
The service is registered with the Care Inspectorate for a maximum of 14 persons with the focus of its work being vulnerable young people aged 16 and over.
Accommodation and Facilities
The core accommodation has 9 bedsits each with en-suite shower room and integral kitchen facilities. There is also a small communal lounge/office and a separate staff kitchen, bathroom and office.
In addition to the core accommodation the project also has 5 bedsits owned by the Association. These are two minutes walk from the core building.
Support Provision
On moving into the accommodation each service user is allocated a Key Worker whose role is to assess, coordinate and review the housing support service provided. This involves regular weekly key work meetings, 6 weekly reviews and providing a link with other professionals.
In addition to the key work service the project also has regular service user meetings to discuss pertinent issues relating to the accommodation and support.
Moving On
Service users usually move on from the core accommodation or satellite properties to either Local Authority or Housing Association tenancies and in most instances.
Staffing
The project is staffed with a team consisting of Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager and Project Workers.
Referral Route
All referrals to this service are made from East Lothian Council homeless services.
