Solas
Purpose
Solas, which is Gaelic for “Place of calm or light”, is a residential housing support project situated near Oban Town Centre. It is a purpose built property owned by the Association and was originally used as a night-shelter for rough sleepers. The project is a partnership between Argyll and Bute Council and Blue Triangle and its main purpose is to provide temporary accommodation for vulnerable homeless persons.
Service User Group
The service is registered with the Care Inspectorate for a maximum of 5 persons with the focus of work being vulnerable homeless people aged 18 and over.
Accommodation and Facilities
The project has 5 bedrooms, a communal lounge, and shared kitchen and bathrooms facilities, together with a staff offices.
Support Provision
On moving into the accommodation service users needs are assessed and appropriate levels of support is agreed and delivered by staff with a key work service in operation, allowing designated support from project workers to residents.
Moving On
Service users usually move on from the project to more stable accommodation and other temporary furnished accommodation provided by Blue Triangle (Glasgow) Housing Association Ltd.
Staffing
The project is staffed by the team comprising of a Project Manager, Team Leader (Housing Management), Project Workers (Days) and Housing Assistants (Nights)

All referrals to this service are made from Argyll and Bute Council homeless services.
