Purpose

Alexandria project is a residential housing support service situationed in Alexandria Town Centre.  This property is owned by West Dunbartonshire Council and has operated as supported accommodation since September 2010.  The project is a partnership between West Dunbartonshire Council and Blue Triangle and its main purpose is to prepare service users for sustainable levels of independent living.

Service User Group

The service is registered with the Care Inspectorate for a maximum of 10 persons with the focus of work being vulnerable young homeless people aged 16 and over.

Accommodation and Facilities

The project provides accommodation for 10 service users in 5 two bedroom flats with 2 single bedrooms & shared kitchen, bathroom, lounge & laundry facilities.

To promote independent living skills the project has 5 one bedroom flats all decorated to a high standard for the 2 service users to share.

Support Provision

On moving into the accommodation, each service user is allocated a Key Worker whose role is to assess, coordinate and review the housing support service provided, through a person centred approach.  This involves regular weekly key work meetings, 6 weekly reviews and providing a link with other professionals, West Dunbartonshire Council and partner agencies: all with the purpose of consolidating independent living skills.

In addition to the key work service the project also has regular service user meetings to discuss pertinent issues relating to the accommodation and support.

Moving On

Key workers will prepare service users for resettlement into the community & ensure that follow on support is in place. Service users usually move on  to either Local Authority  tenancies or temp flats or Housing Association tenancies.

Staffing

The project is staffed 24/7 with a team consisting of Project Manager, Assistant Project Manager and Project Workers.

Referral Route

All service users are referred to the project by West Dunbartonshire Council’s homeless services.
