Project Worker – Holland Street
36 hours per week
Salary scale: £20,475- £21,537 (pro rata)
We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with the right values to join our service assisting and supporting vulnerable homeless people to achieve better lives.
You will have an SVQ3 qualification in social care. Other essentials include: experience of working with vulnerable people, addiction issues and challenging behaviour; effective written and verbal communication; knowledge of homelessness issues; and, above all, the determination to make a difference in the lives of our service users.
The successful candidate will be expected to work as part of a team to support and ensure the welfare of service users and building security. They will manage a small case load providing person centred support covering practical, emotional and personal issues. Their responsibilities will include assisting services users and preparing them for the move to permanent tenancies and sustain independent living.
Experience of working with vulnerable service users as well as an awareness of drug and alcohol issues will be advantageous.
Holland Street project provides emergency accommodation situated within a safe and secure environment for up to 25 people, aged 18 - 35 years, who are experiencing a period of homelessness. The fully furnished accommodation is configured by a series of flats, with service users sharing lounge, kitchen, bathroom and laundry facilities, but having the sole occupancy of a bedroom.
The project provides 24 hour staff cover and has a staff team of 1 Project Manager, 1 Assistant Manager, 7 full-time Project Workers and 2 part-time Project Workers. There is also a bank of relief staff to provide cover where necessary.
The post will involve 5 rota shifts per week between 06:45-14:45; 07:00-15:00 or 14:45-22:45; 15:00-23:00.
If successful, you will be required to register with the Scottish Social Services Council within 6 months of your start date. After registration, there is a requirement to be qualified and to maintain professional learning.
