Our Renfrew project celebrated their 10th anniversary on Friday 17th February 2017. In the ten years the project has been running it has support 463 homeless people to get back on their feet.

The project celebrated with a drop in session which allowed guests to tour the project and one of the flats. They also had video blogs recorded especially for the day which gave a bit of history of the service and a support work and service user view point. Guests included Derek Mackay MSP, the local fire brigade, pupils from Trinity High school and representatives from Renfrewshire's homelessness case work team.
The pupils from Trinity High were so inspired by the videos that they have decided to do a presentation to their school to raise awareness of homlessness and the work we do.
At the end of the event, guests gathered outside to release balloons which had a special message written on them by service users. The idea is that someone may come across one and it would make them smile. We asked if anyone found a balloon to contact us via social media using the hashtag #makesomeonesmile.
One of our balloons actually turned up outside an office in Blairgowrie, Perthshire. the funny thing is, the woman who contacted us is a housing officer! Fancy that!

All in all, it was a wonderful day of celebration.

Happy Birthday Renfrew!
